Coach Sean West Moves On To Family

The Savannah Bananas announced today that Sean West will be moving on as Head Coach of the Savannah Bananas to spend more time with his family.

West shared the news with Owner Jesse Cole expressing his love and appreciation for the Bananas but the importance of being a husband and father during the summer.

“The Bananas have been a huge part of my family’s life for the past two years. The experiences and relationships built from the past two summers will last a lifetime. The decision to leave the organization, city, and its community was one that didn’t come easy. My decision was solely based off of what’s in the best interest for my wife and baby boy.”

“I will always cherish the time spent in Savannah, and if God willing, I would love the opportunity to come back and work for the best baseball team, organization, and city in the entire country, again.”

West won 65 games in two years with the Bananas including leading the Bananas to a CPL Championship in the 2016 inaugural season.

“It’s hard to put into words what Sean brought to this organization, said Owner Jesse Cole.  We couldn’t have asked for a better coach to launch the Bananas. He not only brought in great players but he brought in quality people who cared about giving back to the Fans. Sean knew how to have fun and put the fans first, whether it was on the field or with the numerous videos he starred in.

Sean set the tone for what we look for and expect in a coach. His impact will last for years in Savannah.

West also had three Bananas from the 2016 team selected in this 2017 Major League Draft.

Rylan Bannon was the first ever Banana selected in the 8th round by the Las Angeles Dodgers.  Beau Sulser was selected in the 10th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Nick Choruby was selected in the 16th round by the Washington Nationals.

The Savannah Bananas sold out every game in the 2017 season and currently have a 32 game regular season sellout streak.   Fans can join the waiting list for tickets for the 2018 season by visiting www.TheSavannahBananas.com  or by calling 912-712-2482.
