Savannah Baseball Down to Three Names

SAVANNAH, GA. February 23, 2016 –Fans First Entertainment is excited to announce the final three names for the new Coastal Plain League team.  Today, the name Seagulls was eliminated as a potential name, leaving the Savannah Anchors, Savannah Bananas and Savannah Ports as the three finalists.

The name of Savannah’s new baseball team will be revealed this Thursday, February 25th at Grayson Stadium.   The Reveal Party will be hosted in the main entrance of Grayson Stadium from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm, with the name being announced at 6:00PM.

After the announcement, all new merchandise of the new team will be available in the team store.  Fans will also be able to receive tours sharing the new plans for Grayson Stadium for the inaugural season of Fans First Entertainment.

 “We are excited to finally introduce our identity to the community,” said President Jared Orton.  “We are so blessed by the amount of support we have received so far and we’re looking forward to being one step closer to our debut season!”

Fans First Entertainment also owns and operates the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League.  The Grizzlies have led the league in attendance the past three seasons, been named Organization of the Year and recognized regionally and nationally for unique from promotions and their fan experience.

 

The Coastal Plain League is the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 20th season in 2016, the CPL features 16 teams playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL has had nearly 1,300 alumni drafted and 81 of those – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut; while another notable alum – Russell Wilson – won Super Bowl XLVIII.
