Job Descriptions

Experience all the ins and outs of what it’s like in the Bananas office during the summer!

You’ll get to work every day in the office, Banana Stand, and all around the ballpark to get ready for every game. Game nights will have you being a leader in the concourse or on the field.

Be ready to gain invaluable leadership training and experience, as well as hands-on learning in your department(s) with total access to everything it takes to put on the most Fans First experience in the game.

Available Departments:

Ballpark & Concessions Operations

May – August 2020

The individual chosen to learn from our Ballpark & Concessions Department is in for a treat. Get it… food? Ok seriously, it’s not joke running an All You Can Eat operation for 4,000 people in a few hours.

We have one Operations Director and a big, historic ballpark so the few people in this internship will truly oversee certain areas of the facility. Join this team to help prepare the ballpark for games and events, introduce wacky and creative food and drink options, and oversee inventory management and POS operations.

This job can be so broad but in the end, you’d be responsible for allowing our fans to have an amazing experience within the walls of our ballpark based on the impact of our concessions and the facility itself.

You’ll thrive in this position if you love a fast paced workplace, aren’t afraid to work with your hands or jump into any position in a kitchen, and want to creatively re-imagine and care for something beautiful and historic.

Digital Engagement

May – August 2020

The fun creative chosen for this internship will assist in all aspects of the social media scene including working hand in hand with all departments to not only create content, but to organize and schedule it for all of our social media platforms and more.

You’ll use Adobe Photoshop & InDesign to get your graphic design on to create signage for around the stadium. You can expect to create wacky email campaigns and help keep the Bananas website up-to-date. You’ll help create the first impression and build relationships with the future fans that find us online. 

You’ll thrive in this position if you love scrolling & staying up to date in the social media world (the good, the bad & the downright weird), you enjoy connecting and building relationships with people/fans online, and you love to get creative and out of your comfort zone to help build the best marketing strategies and content.

Digital Story Telling

May – August 2020

The digital guru chosen to learn from our Creative Department will join a team of spirited developers. Passion and experience in film, story-telling, content creation, scripts, and music will help propel you to an influential part of growing the Bananas presence all over the world.

Some of the programs you’ll likely use include Photoshop, Premier, Lightroom and After Effects. To see the type of content we’re looking to produce, stalk our social media (especially from the summer months)!

You’ll thrive in this position if you are happy being behind the camera rather than in front, you’re a creative machine, and you know how to do a lot more on a computer than search the world wide web.

Front Office

May – August 2020

The individual chosen to work with our Front Office team will be caring, fun, and detail oriented.

The Front Office position is perhaps the best internship for learning about each aspect of our business. We believe First Impressions are one of the most imperative elements of Fan Experience and you will be challenged to make sure that each fan you encounter is left with an outstanding First Impression of the Savannah Bananas. Not only will you be answering questions for fans over the phone and welcoming fans and staff into the office, but you will also play a role in assisting with task from other departments such as hospitality, promotions, and merchandise.

You’ll thrive in this job if you never get tired of answering questions compassionately, are a quick learner and team player, and love keeping an office space clean and tidy.

Hospitality

May – August 2020

The individual chosen to work with our Experience team will be truly caring individuals who look at every touch point as an opportunity.

You will be responsible for the set-up to clean-up, and everything in between for each hospitality area of the ballpark to ensure that all fans in those sections are in for a memorable night. From food to drinks to decor to communication before and after the event, we strive to offer an excellent experience!

You’ll thrive in this position if you love engaging with others, care about details, and have nice handwriting.

Merchandise Sales & Design

May – August 2020

The individual chosen to learn from our Merchandise Department will help oversee one of the largest parts of the Bananas company – the apparel and store!

Ordered by fans all over the world every day, this has become a huge creative and logistical undertaking.

Some of the items you will participate in will be store layout, inventory control, leading store staff, apparel design and concept creation, shipping procedures, etc. One of the things we do every day is call and appreciate buyers and you will oversee this “appreciation of fans” process.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re creative, organized, and love giving compliments to others.

On Field Entertainment

May – August 2020

The individual(s) chosen to learn from our Promotions Department will help run the day to day entertainment at the ballpark – something we are known for worldwide. You’ll get to participate in are script creation, music selection, prop set up, character schedule, and overall ballpark entertainment for fans.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy a fast paced environment, being on stage, and can smile for 6 hours straight.

Ticketing Operations

January – August 2020

The individual chosen to learn from the Ticketing Department will help with each touch point of a buying experience. To us, the buying experience is so much more than a moment of purchase. You’ll participate in the preparation of messages before purchase, celebration during, delivery of tickets, appreciation of fans, communication at event, and the follow up.

You will be joining a large department and will support the ticketing staff to oversee thousands of accounts on a weekly basis.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are friendly, driven, attentive, and enjoy taking ownership on a project.

Being a Team Captain means you’ll receive intensive leadership training throughout the summer to better serve your team members as a leader.

Available Positions:

Concourse Alcohol Sales Team Captain

We strive to provide an excellent and safe experience for all fans at our ballpark, and alcohol sales is a huge part of that. You’ll get to serve all the team members who are working alcohol-only stations in the concourse. You’ll be there to help them restock and jump in on areas with heavier lines when needed, as well as be their #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, alcohol, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you are knowledgeable about all types of alcoholic beverages and great at coaching others to be fun, responsible, and personable when fulfilling orders and handling alcohol.

Deck Hospitality Team Captain

From our groups who have a reserved deck for their staff outing to our fans at the top deck bar and metal bleachers, you get to be the leader responsible for an experience full of energy and fun. Every detail from trash and condiment tables to hyping fans up to join in on the fun is so important. You’ll serve your team who directly provides the experience for fans, being the team members’ #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, hospitality, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you love hosting parties, are great at teaching others how to be hype-men/women, and can calmly handle situations with fans who may be inhibiting the experience for other fans.

First Base Concourse Team Captain

You’ll get to serve all the team members working in the first base concessions and first base satellite AYCE concessions to ensure all fans coming to those areas have a fun and efficient concessions experience. Whether it’s serving alongside your team restocking and filling orders, coming up with creative ways to celebrate fans, or coaching your team, you’ll be their #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, food service, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you enjoy leading in fast-paced work environments, are comfortable when things change, and enjoy teaching others how to fulfill orders in new, fun ways.

Front of Main Team Captain

In the front of main, there’s always an order to fill or an item to restock, but the most important end goal is always giving an amazing, fun, and efficient experience to hungry fans. You’ll be responsible for getting fans their food in a timely manner, but also in a fun way. You’ll get to serve your team members who are on the registers or running to fill orders through encouraging them, keeping their work environment fun and energetic, and jumping in to directly help them through restocking or filling orders when it’s really busy. You’ll be the team’s #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, food service, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you are really good at both delegating and jumping in (without slowing down other orders), enjoy multitasking and can keep focus on lots of things for hours at a time, and are naturally very encouraging.

Usher Team Captain

The team of ushers is there to ensure fans are able to have an awesome time, from the moment they start walking up the stairs to the stands to the end of the night as you wave goodbye (and sometimes walk them out to their car with an umbrella if it’s rainy). You’ll be an usher alongside of them, helping fans find seats, hyping up the crowd, addressing concerns, ensuring all fans are having a great time (but not at the expense of other fans). You’re the front runner to see fan needs, or needs of your team members, and address them in a calm, Fans First way. You’ll be the usher team’s #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, ushering, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you are great at identifying opportunities and bringing people on board to create an experience, have the ability to smile for 5 hours straight, and are a compassionate listener and problem solver.

Waitstaff Team Captain

As the leader of the waitstaff, you’ll get to teach your team on everything from excellent fan experience and relationship-building, to safe food handling and knowledge of our different alcoholic beverages. You’ll mostly help stock to best serve your team functionally, but you’ll also be the the waitstaff’s go-to if there’s an issue with a POS or a fan has an out-of-the-ordinary request. You’ll get to be their #1 fan, encourager, and teacher for all things Bananas, waitstaff, and Fans First related.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re as organized and task-oriented as you are compassionate and fun, and if you are confident to consistently coach your team on how to take it to the next level.

Team Members are how we’re all able to serve every single fan and make their experience the best one possible! Learn a variety of skills and work with a team to create lasting friendships while impacting hundreds (or even thousands!) of fans.

*Please note that we will highly honor the positions you applied & are hired for, but our ballpark has lots of needs that may change from night to night. That means you will be trained and must be willing to work with a smile in other positions as truly needed.*

Available Positions:

Bartender

Most of your night will be spent at a station getting to know fans who are looking for a beer, wine, or mixed drink. You’ll also be expected to wrap food and restock your station each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re as personable as you are responsible and want to learn how to serve up a great drink.

Concession Line Attendant

You’ll ensure that every fan who stands in line at our Main concession stand gets a truly amazing experience while they decide which food or drink to get. Along with mingling with fans in line and making sure the line is moving smoothly, you’ll be expected to help wrap food and keep the main concessions area in tip top shape.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re observant, love giving compliments and making new friends, and can smile for 5 hours straight.

Concession Register

Most of your night, you’ll be the smiling face who takes and helps fulfill fans’ orders as they come to your station. You’ll be expected to get to know them, make sure your station is tidy and stocked, and help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re naturally attentive, a great multitasker, and love to smile.

Concession Runner

You’ll be the right hand man/woman to the registers, listening to fans’ orders and fulfilling them in a timely (and fun!) manner. You’ll also be expected to keep your station safe, clean, and stocked, and to help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you enjoy fast-paced environments, are great at multitasking, and love working on a team.

Cook

Garbage Can Nachos and World Famous Fries and Corn Dogs – Oh My! You’ll be the one to make all of our specialty food items taste and look amazing for all the fans. You’ll also be expected to make sure your station is safe, clean, and stocked, as well as help wrap food during down times each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if people always rave about your recipes, group projects are your favorite, and you have no fear working with fryers and grills.

Dippin Dots Scooper

This position has a secret to it – each night, you’ll not only get to give the gift of Dippin Dots to hundreds of fans, but you’ll also get to be the smiling face running the plaza food tent. On this team, you’ll work together to make sure fans are served their All You Can Eat food in a fun, efficient way. You’ll also be expected to wrap food and ensure proper clean-up of both the Plaza Tent and Dippin Dots stations each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re as self-motivated as you are fun-loving, enjoy people of all ages (including lots of kids!), and love to help in a variety of ways every day.

Fan Assistant

If you believe variety is the spice of life, this is the job for you. Each night, you’ll spend most of your time helping fans directly from the phones or by the Fan Services booth. You will encounter many kinds of fans with all types of questions, as well as get the chance to create special moments with thousands of fans as they walk by your station or call on the phone.
You’ll thrive in this position if you’re a calm and compassionate problem solver, you anticipate needs well and love to help fill those needs, and you can smile for 5 hours straight.

Food Prepper

Can you say teamwork? In this position, you’ll work on the team that puts together most of the ballpark’s food for fans – that’s impressive! If you know how to get the job done while making it fun for everyone around you, this is the position for you. You’ll also be expected to keep your station safe, clean, and stocked.
You’ll thrive in this job if you’re a hard worker, a team player, and aren’t afraid to get a little messy every now and then.

Grill Master

If you volunteer to grill at every neighborhood bbq, this is the position for you. This job mostly consists of grilling all the burgers and dogs for our fans. After the grilling is done, you’ll also have the chance to interact more with fans as you keep the ballpark’s condiment tables clean and help take out trash in a certain area of the ballpark. You’ll also be expected to keep your stations clean, safe, and stocked each night.
You’ll thrive in this job if you are comfortable around grills and big equipment, enjoy working “behind the scenes” as much as you enjoy interacting with fans, and are happy doing a variety of tasks that may not always be the most glamorous.

Hawker

For the majority of your night, you will be creating attention in the stands (and getting your steps in) to sell beer, desserts, or merchandise. You will also help welcome fans and check ID’s in the plaza for the first part of the night. You’ll be expected to help wrap food and restock your station each night.
You’ll thrive in this job if you have an uncanny ability to read a crowd, are comfortable carrying weight on your back while climbing stairs, and are as responsible as you are fun.

ID'er

First impressions mean a lot to us, and this job is all about providing an amazing experience for fans as soon as they walk through the gates. For the majority of the night, you’ll be out on the plaza, checking ID’s while you give fun (& 21+ wristbands) to fans. You’ll also be expected to help wrap food, and keep the plaza trash-free and your station clean each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you can pay attention to a task while holding a conversation, are as responsible as you are a fun time, and are confident enough to turn away fans you aren’t comfortable wristbanding.

Kids' Zone Attendant

Most of your night will consist of making sure our bouncy house and batting cage area is safe and fun for our littler fans. You’ll also be expected to wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you are great with kids and are kind, can mediate an argument well, and have very good awareness of your surroundings.

Merchandise Stylist

Most of your night will be spent in one of our Merchandise locations, giving fans a spectacular experience as they pick the perfect Bananas gear to don. From behind the register or on the floor, there’s something special about being involved with the part of our business that has spread literally all around the world. You’ll also be expected to help wrap food and ensure the store stays stocked, clean, and tidy each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you love to give genuine compliments, are a spot-on people reader, and are great at guessing people’s sizes (accurately… and kindly).

Popcorn Giver

Like the movies, only better. Your team gets to pop all the popcorn for each fan in the ballpark (and serve it up with a side of fun)! You’ll also be expected to keep your station clean, safe, and stocked, and help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you love coming up with creative ways to make things fun and working with people of all ages.

Scoreboard Keeper

Most of your night will be spent behind the scenes, making sure fans are always able to keep up with the game. You’ll also be expected to keep the condiment tables around the ballpark clean and stocked until game time, keep your area behind the scoreboard prepped and organized, and help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you have a good understanding of baseball scoring and rules, and are self-motivated, organized, and as conscientious as you are efficient.

Ticket Booth Attendant

Much like fan assistance, you’ll be expected to provide excellent service to any and all of the fans who come by the ticket booth. During down time, you’ll also be expected to help keep the ticket booth and plaza areas clean and welcoming, and help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you can work as quickly as you can carefully, are really good at giving amazing first impressions, and are a great listener.

Ticket Taker

If you’re here to dress up in a banana costume and make the best first impression ever, you found it! As a ticket taker, you’ll spend most of your night greeting people as they enter and leave the stadium – you get to be their very first experience at the ballpark!! You’ll also be expected to help restock the bathrooms and keep the plaza looking clean and welcoming for fans during down time, as well as help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you can work as quickly as you can carefully, are naturally enthusiastic and love to dance, and enjoy giving compliments, high fives, and smiles galore.

Usher

As an usher, you have the unique opportunity to be the crowd’s go-to hype man/woman and set of helping hands. Most of your time will be spent caring for your section by helping fans find seats, dancing and cheering, and keeping the area trash-free and fan-friendly. You’ll also be expected to help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you can bring the energy for 5 hours straight, love to be “on stage”, and can focus on a few things at once.

Waitstaff

Most of your night will consist of building relationships with fans in your section and providing them excellent food and drink service. You’ll help stock and clean your station when you have down time, and will also be expected to help wrap food each night.
You’ll thrive in this position if you are self-motivated and great at initiating conversation, turning strangers into friends, and multitasking.
