Bananas Win 6-5 in Dramatic Fashion

In front of the 15th straight sold out crowd, CPL All-Star Elliot Forde (Misericordia) led the Bananas to a 6-5 win over the Florence RedWolves. Forde pitched six complete innings, only allowing two runs, both in the first inning.

The Bananas came back and scored four runs in the second inning. Garret Nelson drove in the first run for the Bananas, with a single to score John Cassala. Utah Jones followed with a base hit to bring in Anthony Brocato. Jake Howard drove in Nelson and Logan Mattix capped the inning with an RBI ground out.

Both sides went scoreless through the following three innings. Mattix and Jones each drove in another run during the 6th and 7th innings, bringing the Bananas up 6-2.

The RedWolves fought back in the 9th.  Leading off with back to back walks, Mason Meadows hit a ground out to first and put runners in a scoring position. Storme Cooper blasted a ball down the right line for a RBI double, making the score 6-4. With the bases loaded and two outs, Tyler Webb drove a single to Anthony Brocato in right field. Cooper scored, but Masen Hibbeler was thrown out at the plate to end the game in dramatic fashion.

The Bananas are 4-3 in the second half and have won eight of their last nine games at home. The Bananas are back home on Monday night for St. Patrick’s Night against Lexington County.
