SAVANNAH, GA – The Savannah Bananas are proud to announce that they helped area non-profits raise over $41,000 in 2016. The Bananas worked with 52 different organizations over the two-month season.
Fundraising activities included a featured non-profit of the night, local school fundraisers, and 50/50 raffles. While the majority of the Bananas’ work with non-profits took place at games, the team and front office staff also volunteered in the community off the field with activities such as mascot appearances.
In addition, the Bananas held two jersey auctions during the season, raising over $3,000. For opening night, the team wore green jerseys that were auctioned off with profits going to the Field of Dreams Foundation. The team wore purple jerseys, personalized with each player’s last name, for “Strike Out Cancer Night.” The proceeds from these jerseys went to the American Cancer Society.
The Bananas will continue to work with non-profits in the Savannah community throughout the off-season and look forward to raising even more money in 2017.
